Ova succesfully imported to Natal from Scotland in 1890; after hatching young were stocked into the Mooi, Bushmans and Umgeni rivers; in 1892 ova also imported to the Cape (Ref. 7248). Well established in Western and Eastern Cape, KwaZulu-Natal and Mpumalanga (Ref. 52193). More or less replaced by Oncorhynchus mykiss but still present in some waters (Ref. 13721), especially cold upland waters (Ref. 5214). Also Ref. 1739, 6461, 6465, 12501, 13337, 43638, 80059.
